Crafting with Stills Disease

THE DIFFICULTY: Stills Disease is a very rare severe arthritic, auto-immune condition affecting Rebecca who had not grown very much since she developed the disease aged 3.  Her joints are deformed and fused which means she has very limited movement of her fingers but despite this Rebecca pursued a career as an artist. People who knew Rebecca were amazed she could draw anything at all, but cutting remained an impossibility.

THE SOLUTION: Due to the small size of her hands Rebecca tried Peta’s Mini Easi-Grip scissors. The looped handle can sit in the palm of the hand and requires minimal movement to close the blades.

THE RESULT: For the first time Rebecca was able to use scissors! She used the round ended Mini-Easi-Grip scissors for general cutting out but the pointed blade version for more precise cutting.

REBECCA said: “I could not use scissors until I found PETA UK! Mini Easi-Grip scissors are great for crafting, especially the pointed version because the blades are perfect for use with yarn when kitting, or thread when sewing and excellent for decoupage cutting because of the sharp point that can really get into detailed decoupage sections.”
